Essay examples, 2012 - Advice about the UGA …
"I changed the course of my life by leaving my microbiology and pre-med intentions behind, but I believe that my current major more closely approximates the person I was created to be. The one UGA experience I will always remember is getting to hear Congressman John Lewis speak for the first time at the annual Freedom Breakfast event my freshman year. I spoke with him more informally during my summer Washington, D.C. internship. He is one of my heroes because of his genuine desire to ensure that every human being living in the U.S. has access to the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness promised by the Declaration of Independence. He fought for human rights alongside Dr. King, and he continues to do so today."

To earn the certificate, business students must first complete several German courses at the University of Georgia, including courses focusing on German business and politics. Once they have taken residence in Erlangen–Nürnberg, students enroll in additional language classes, complete an internship with a German company, and study German and Business for one semester in Nürnberg. Although not a requirement of the program, it is recommended that students participate in UGA's study abroad summer program in Erlangen prior to the beginning of the certificate program. The certificate program normally commences in January and runs through the end of July in any given year.

''The first time I came to UGA was during my high school sophomore year for the Georgia Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. I fell in love with the beautiful campus and all the activities that were available to students. When I looked into the biological engineering program, I realized that it was a perfect match. One of my biggest achievements has been working in professor William Kisaalita’s cellular bioengineering laboratory. I have gained valuable skills that have prepared me for my career goals in medical school as well as made me a more complex and critical thinker.''
